Edited by: welsh wizard on 25/11/2006 02:26:06 I'm confident that once Revelations is released it'll become apparent that missiles have serious problems just like they did after Exodus (or was it Castor?) so don't worry about it too much.
They'll get changed again.
In the mean time use tech I ammo, it is considerably better than the tech II stuff and alot cheaper/easier to get hold of.

Torps are for npc'ing now.
Bah was getting excited, was thinking 6 HAM II's with RoF bonus on me Raven but it only applies to Cruise and Siege :(

Originally by: Dark Shikari Javelin torps are totally useless now... I mean they weren't even overpowered before, but now they're worse than T1.
I still don't get this.
There doesn't appear to be a use for them anymore, except maybe for killing fast battlecruisers?
They don't hurt BS and HACS laugh em off.

I haven't tested them myself, but I'm willing to trust that you probably have both tried them practicaly and in terms of numbers. If they are that bad I'm sure they will get looked at. Until then T1 cruise ftw.
I haven't tried them practically, but if I recall correctly they're basically T1 torpedoes with less damage and more range.
More range. Whoopdyfriggindo. Nobody uses torpedoes as a long-range weapon to begin with.
Quote: Flight time reduced to 12.5s.
The range is getting nerfed too. The ship velocity penalty is less harsh but that does nothing for the Raven.
They're obsolete, ul tech II torp bpo owners tbh.
Originally by: Arlen Warstadt Edited by: Arlen Warstadt on 25/11/2006 02:51:12 The problem is T1 torps are crazy slow, giving NPC's plently of time to nuke em all down with Defenders and significantly reducing the range at which you can hit stuff.
I've never seen an npc kill a torp, it takes 3 defenders. They're perfect for npc'ing but too slow for pvp.

DS, You probably aren't used to this since you're the resident forum *****, but maybe you should actually try them before talking about balance.
And as far as I'm concerned every other weapons system in this game sacrifices damage for range.

Right so Javelin get less damage and less range? Explain.
I believe the root of the 'nerf Javelin' debacle is simple. They were intended to be anti battleship missiles giving the Raven some use in a fleet situation but the community mistakenly thought they were for killing support. Queue massive outcry, result: pointless ammunition.

Edited by: welsh wizard on 25/11/2006 03:07:48 Edited by: welsh wizard on 25/11/2006 03:06:41 In my opinion the Javelin was given the wrong bonuses in the first place.
Javelin missiles should have been fast, hard hitting and long range but poor against anything cruiser sized or smaller, maintaining the negative ship velocity bonus.
Rage should have been short range, fast, low damage but better against small ships (explosion radius and velocity good).
Basically tech I torps should be as slow as torps get, the long range tech II ammo should have been hard hitting and the short range stuff should have been weaker but good against small ships.
This way an ammo type would have been provided for the Raven to fight Battleships in Fleet but be at risk against small ships.
The short range stuff would have been adequate defence against frigs and hacs but not damaging enough against battleships/command ships.
